My twin spends our final day of teenhood<\/span><\/p>\n

in a cloudy Cincinnati apartment<\/span><\/p>\n

with people she doesn\u2019t like,<\/span><\/p>\n

doing shots of fireball and vodka,<\/span><\/p>\n

burning her throat that is like mine.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

I spend our final day of teenhood<\/span><\/p>\n

alone in my bedroom at 10 p.m.<\/span><\/p>\n

watching <\/span>Law & Order<\/span><\/i> with a glass\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

of water and a splash of existential crisis.<\/span><\/p>\n

Blank-faced as I watch the badass cop<\/span><\/p>\n

with a leather jacket and bad boy haircut<\/span><\/p>\n

turn away a man who can\u2019t give her stability.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

I wonder if I should stay awake until midnight<\/span><\/p>\n

or sleep through my christening of adulthood.<\/span><\/p>\n

My friends and pet rat sleep walls away<\/span><\/p>\n

while I strum the Hank Williams tune,<\/span>
\n<\/span>let’s turn back the years and go back to yesterday<\/span><\/i>,<\/span><\/p>\n

but my audience is in dirty Cincinnati,<\/span><\/p>\n

slurring her own name.<\/span><\/p>\n
