If anyone sits there, I promise I will growl.<\/span><\/p>\n

Ah, who am I kidding \u2014 I would relinquish my table<\/span><\/p>\n

to the slouched football players whose jaws<\/span><\/p>\n

have more muscles than my straw body.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

(I swear their flexing jaws wink at me.)<\/span><\/p>\n

Where is my kindergarten self?<\/span><\/p>\n

She would hyena laugh with biscuits\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

falling like snow from her mouth.<\/span><\/p>\n

Squish herself into an occupied seat<\/span><\/p>\n

just to smell her friend\u2019s blackberry shampoo.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cSorry\u201d is not a word she knows.<\/span><\/p>\n

Lonely lunches only happen to the elderly.<\/span><\/p>\n

Mother\u2019s spare quarters clink in her pocket<\/span><\/p>\n

and she exchanges them for a cosmic brownie.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cCalories\u201d is not a concept she worries about.<\/span><\/p>\n

Lunch is followed by careless coloring, later<\/span><\/p>\n

the crayon drawing of a dog (purple with eight legs)<\/span><\/p>\n

will be scotch-taped to the fridge.<\/span><\/p>\n
