edges of water with its lyre-shaped rocks & hear<\/span><\/p>\n

the pluck of duck feet paddling just under\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

the surface.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

You can see the clouds sail, skimming oaks\u2019 shaggy<\/span><\/p>\n

tops, clearing distant hills like reefs, loosely anchored\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

by a lighthouse moon.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

You can sense stars\u2019 light vibrating through a deep<\/span><\/p>\n

black to the lavender-blue sky, finally to breach waves,<\/span><\/p>\n

pages that rest on your lap.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

You will look down, pen in hand, feel its length\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

like an oar between your fingers, smell its ink as it gushes<\/span><\/p>\n

your words<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

& you realize that you are the message in the bottle<\/span><\/p>\n

nestled with a quarter moon lighting the smooth interior<\/span><\/p>\n

the color of granny smith apples & grass & glazed<\/span><\/p>\n

like a mallard\u2019s neck barnacled\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

with emeralds<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

that you bob & drift, one day to unfold\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

& sing yourself aloud, the cantor\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

for your own buoyant truth.<\/span><\/p>\n
