The snow covered the ground<\/span><\/p>\n

Like a giant sleeping polar bear.<\/span><\/p>\n

So soft and welcoming<\/span><\/p>\n

Yet it could rip your toes, fingers or nose off<\/span><\/p>\n

In an instant.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

I pushed through it<\/span><\/p>\n

Leaving my body to fend for itself<\/span><\/p>\n

As I daydreamed.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

How I love winter!<\/span><\/p>\n

The beautiful crystals nestled in my beard<\/span><\/p>\n

Or kicking their legs on my eyelids.<\/span><\/p>\n

And the bright light bouncing outward,<\/span><\/p>\n

Illuminating everything:<\/span><\/p>\n

The notes from my clandestine life,<\/span><\/p>\n

The clothes in my closet,<\/span><\/p>\n

Even the codes to the classified mysteries<\/span><\/p>\n

Of my private journeys.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

I let myself fall into the worlds of frost gardens<\/span><\/p>\n

And frozen drips of time,<\/span><\/p>\n

Stalagmites of the temporary<\/span><\/p>\n

Offering us lessons in both science and philosophy.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Tonight, in the sparkly darkness of the clear sky<\/span><\/p>\n

I will finally quit my job<\/span><\/p>\n

The job of living<\/span><\/p>\n

I shall retire from all the tiresome dramas, the unforgiving debts<\/span><\/p>\n

And mindless drudgery<\/span><\/p>\n

From the loneliness, the deep, dark jaws of phobias and boredom<\/span><\/p>\n

And I will fall upon the white bear<\/span><\/p>\n
