Gifted for my age until I started talking<\/span><\/p>\n

Fleeting obsessions that meant everything to me but nothing to anybody\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Stop talking, nobody likes it when you\u2019re loud<\/span><\/p>\n

So then I went quiet\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

And listened\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Just listened<\/span><\/p>\n

Listening as words bounced at the dinner table<\/span><\/p>\n

The words, though, just flew by aimlessly as I repeated my own words in my mind like a mantra\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

When it was finally my turn the words have already left without a trace<\/span><\/p>\n

The mantra wasn\u2019t enough<\/span><\/p>\n

At least I wouldn\u2019t be the chatterbox<\/span><\/p>\n

I started sitting quietly in school<\/span><\/p>\n

Stealing glances at the shifting strangers near me throughout the years <\/span><\/p>\n

Itching to finally let the dam of words loose<\/span><\/p>\n

Instead, I opted to patch the cracks\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The dam couldn’t break<\/span><\/p>\n

I couldn’t be the chatterbox<\/span><\/p>\n
