of the great unknown in<\/span><\/p>\n

simple and familiar places.<\/span><\/p>\n

We slip past flitting cardinals<\/span><\/p>\n

to strange and different worlds<\/span><\/p>\n

with yellow flower boxes<\/span><\/p>\n

and dusty country roads.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

We swing on branches<\/span><\/p>\n

over electric fences<\/span><\/p>\n

landing on new terrain<\/span><\/p>\n

in an old world.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

I would spend all my hours<\/span><\/p>\n

of every night<\/span><\/p>\n

of all my life<\/span><\/p>\n

watching the stars with you.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Exposed to outer space\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

where the sky is inky blue.<\/span><\/p>\n

Sitting outside, we watch it<\/span><\/p>\n

rain shooting stars over Mars.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

I will point at them<\/span><\/p>\n

and you will laugh<\/span><\/p>\n

and we will lie down<\/span><\/p>\n

and make secret wishes<\/span><\/p>\n

we don\u2019t tell each other<\/span><\/p>\n

so we don\u2019t break the quiet illusion<\/span><\/p>\n

that we are still children<\/span><\/p>\n

and have not felt pain.<\/span><\/p>\n
