I Could Be A Tree

I could be a tree

And you can find shade beneath my limbs

I could be a tree

And you can climb over me

Just so you can sit a little taller

I could be a tree

And you can cut off my growth

Just so you can make your own

I could be a tree

And you can carve in me

A memory of you

To last long after you have left me

I could be a tree

And your simple breath could be enough

To feed me

I could be a tree

And for you

My roots will try to hold your world together

I could be a tree

And for you

I would shed my leaves

Even if it were just because you liked the feeling of them beneath your feet

I could be a tree

And for you

I would always fight to bloom again

I could be a tree

And for you

Despite my hollows

I will always bear it all
