You Hate Reading Out Loud

You Hate Reading Out Loud

But we must adventure through the syllables, the steady monophthongs

home

warm

bed

the diphthongs that slide nimble fingers one into another

care  away  my

consonants straining our lungs

brea  k

       tru  th

go

and the grip of fricatives

SHE

Roll your laterals around the side of your tongue

lovelovelove

Then weave them

knot the muscle

try

loveleavesliterateinloss

You must know yourself to read

part your lips more

Words are difficult

but edible

Speak

you must be starved
